Michigan State University is dedicated to the global engineering community, and we welcome international students. In addition to the standard admission requirements, applicants whose first language is not English should submit their TOEFL or IELTS scores.
Successful international applicants generally meet the following requirements:
- TOEFL Paper-based test (PBT): minimum average score of 550, no subscore below 52
- TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT): minimum average score of 80, no subscore below 19 for reading, listening, and speaking; no writing subscore below 22
- IELTS: minimum average score of 6.5, no subscore below 6.0
- GRE quantitative/verbal/writing scores are required for all international students.
International applicants should note that, because these programs are offered entirely online, MSU cannot issue student visas. The MSU Office of International Students and Scholars is an important resource of information in this regard.
