Biography

Dr. Qingxu “Bill” Jin is an assistant professor at Michigan State University in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a minor in materials chemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology. During his Ph.D. studies, Jin was a guest researcher in the Materials and Structural Systems Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) under an NSF INTERN grant. Jin also received a dual M.Sc. degree in civil engineering and natural resources and environment from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. His B.Eng. in Structural Engineering is from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is a member of Sigma Xi and Chi Epsilon and a licensed professional engineer in the states of Michigan and Maryland. Jin developed his interest in resilient, smart and sustainable infrastructure materials through his academic research and industry experience. He is hoping to impact the concrete industry with novel sustainable technologies.
